About

John Perkins began his culinary journey in 2008 by hosting a series of roving, secret dinner parties he called entre: underground.

entre:underground ran for 4 years until dec 2012. In January 2013 Perkins opened Le Coq, the first of three pop-up restaurant concepts: Le Coq, A Good Man is Hard to Find and The Agrarian.

Juniper opened on October 2013. Juniper was named as one of the top 10 restaurants of 2013. But what everyone loved, and came back for over and over again, was the fried chicken. By 2014 critics called it the best fried chicken in the city. Never one to rest on his laurels, Perkins' kept tweaking, improving what was already a great product. And in the summer of 2022, the work payed off. Eater magazine named Juniper as having some of the best fried chicken in the country!

All this led to Sunday Best.
